The 2nd Winter: A poem by a Michigander

By M. R. Snipes

Just when I thought it was you,

Spring, when the sky finally turned blue

The sunshine a ray of light

Making the world all so bright

Just when I thought it was you,

Spring, the grass a blanket of dew

The sprouts of new life

Piercing through the ground like a knife

Just when I thought it was you,

Spring, the flowers all in bloom

It's when I realized I must be a fool

To think that spring in Michigan could

Come so soon
